Leagues

Training is important because that’s where players learn. Games are places where they can test their skills and awareness, but it’s at training that players should be have the freedom to experiment with the ball, with the game and get lots of repetition in order to get better technically. – Claudio Reyna
At the earliest ages, athletes should not be limited to playing youth soccer games. Skills and technical development can and should come from small-sided play such as 3v3 / 4v4, futsal, and Quickfoot games and tournaments. GFT sponsors interleague and intramural play for recreational or competitive at all age and skill levels.

Leagues we support include Futsal Control, Mission Arlington’s Street Soccer, Birdville Alliance Youth Futbol Association (BAYFA), 3v3 play through local, regional, recreation and competitive teams, YMCA organizations, and others. Join us for a fun pick-up game, a weekly skills session, or a league game. We have partner locations throughout the DFW region and we partner with public and private groups for varying levels of skill development and play. Check out our play locations for schedules, team placements available, and cost. You can join a formed group or create your own for both skills and competition.

The soccer technique of 3v3 or 4v4 has been used by some of the great European clubs for the same reasons futsal promotes improved ball control: the smaller zone play requires greater ball control. As soccer has grown in popularity, so has the desire to better American soccer skill. The advantage of futsal for today’s youth soccer players is more touches, a reduced risk for injury, and the quick speed of play.
Futsal Control
Futsal builds a player’s skill level, playing technique, and confidence as he or she becomes stronger on the ball. The greater frequency of touches a player has during a training session, a greater overall game player is developed. Futsal Control is a conglomerate of the fiercely competitive futsal leagues and clubs in and around Dallas-Ft. Worth and a national competitor with other growing futsal leagues. They work with youth and adults to build soccer skill, foster healthy competition, and build a sense of community. Futsal Control is not affiliated with any club or league but promotes healthy skill development of soccer and futsal players, fun and knowledge of the game, and greater opportunity for ball control in today’s competitive U.S. youth soccer players.
Street Soccer (ages 6-8, 8-9, 9-11)
What it is: Advance your skills without the pressure of a competitive game. Play 3v3, 4v4, 5v5 soccer, maximize your ball touches, and read your own game needs. This style of play is excellent for developing game insight, ball control, and promoting healthy competition. How it works: Players arrive before the scheduled time for warm up. The players are randomly assigned to teams of 3-5 players by our staff. The whistle is blown and for time increments of 15 minutes, players challenge one another’s skill and level of play in a small side game until the whistle is blown again. Every 15 minutes the teams rotate to play a new team.
